Tips
KNOW WHERE YOUR CLEAN OUTS ARE - It is important to know where your clean outs are located so that in times of emergency your drains can be serviced.
-Within the house (usually in the basement) they can often be covered by furniture or flooring such as carpet. In finished basements they can often be found in a cabinet or closet. Floor drains & clean outs should never be covered to the point they are inaccessible (such as encased within a wall or covered permanently by flooring).
-Outside clean outs may get covered by lawn/landscape. It is a good idea to mark clean out locations with a planter or a stone so that they can easily be found in the future.
Majority of homes built on a slab or crawl space include this type of clean out so that the sewer can be serviced when needed.
KNOW WHERE YOUR MAIN WATER SHUT OFF IS LOCATED - if for any reason you spring a leak this is the easiest way to shut off water supply to your plumbing system
